No Instructions Gallery Debuts in Milwaukee’s Bay View Neighborhood with Inaugural Exhibition by Shane Walsh
Milwaukee, WI – April 15, 2025 – No Instructions, a new contemporary art gallery, will open its doors on Friday, May 30, with an opening reception from 5:00-9:00 PM, coinciding with Bay View Gallery Night. Located at 2124 E. Rusk Ave., Milwaukee, the gallery is excited to introduce itself to the local community and artists, offering a space for bold, forward-thinking art. The inaugural exhibition will feature recent paintings by Milwaukee-based artist Shane Walsh, whose work combines historical abstraction with graphic imagery in vibrant, layered compositions. James Stepanek, the new owner and director of No Instructions, is thrilled to bring this gallery to Bay View, a neighborhood known for its vibrant creative energy. The Milwaukee area is home to many talented artists, and No Instructions will serve as a platform to showcase their incredible work. With a full slate of exhibitions lined up, featuring both emerging and established artists from Milwaukee and beyond, Stepanek looks forward to introducing these shows to the neighborhood and building strong connections within the local art scene.
As a newcomer to gallery ownership, Stepanek has been deeply encouraged by the generosity and camaraderie within the arts community. With over 30 years of experience in design and marketing, combined with a studio arts degree from Kent State University, Stepanek brings a unique perspective to No Instructions. The support from fellow artists and gallery owners has been invaluable as he kicks off this new journey. The inaugural exhibition of Shane Walsh’s work, which will run from May 30 through July 4, 2025, is a perfect representation of the kind of dynamic, thought-provoking art that Stepanek hopes to showcase at No Instructions. Walsh’s layered, fragmented paintings reflect his deep engagement with visual culture and his personal connection to the subcultures of the 1990s.
Regular gallery hours will be Fridays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during exhibits. For more information about the gallery, visit www.noinstructs.com.
