Exhibition: Raster Blaster Halftones, new life for proven screen printing technology

On display from 10 May at Provinciehuis Paviljoen Welgelegen in Haarlem.

The Halftone or the grid forms the starting point for this exhibition. It is a typical screen printing technique that is used to simulate different gradations in color while these are made up of small dots. The grid was used a lot by American Pop Art artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein and in the German version by Sigmar Polke, who again took this phenomenon from various comic books.

Seven artists have integrated this screen printing technique into their work with their own mostly abstract visual language: Matthew Allen, Rob Bouwman, Joost Krijnen, Clary Stolte, Graphic Surgery, Vincent Uilenbroek and Marjolijn de Wit.
