Artist and assistant professor in the Department of Art at UCLA, Rodrigo Valenzuela works across photography, video, and installation to address the lived experiences of undocumented immigrants and laborers. Using autobiographical threads to address universal subjects, Valenzuela constructs scenes that point to the tensions found between the individual and larger sociopolitical backdrop. The artist draws from these sequences to describe aspects of Zoe Leonard’s various bodies of work on view at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
